Decree No. 12.485 on the National Strategy and Action Plan for Biodiversity.

This Decree provides for the National Strategy and Action Plan for Biodiversity. They are planning instruments within the scope of the federal executive branch, with the purpose of fulfilling the commitments made by the country under the Convention on Biological Diversity, promulgated by Decree No. 2.519 of 16 March 1998, in accordance with the provisions of the National Biodiversity Policy, observing the recommendations of the National Biodiversity Commission. The objectives of the National Strategy and Action Plan for Biodiversity are: implementing actions aimed at the conservation, sustainable use, and sharing of biodiversity benefits at the federal level; monitoring compliance with the 2050 objectives, national targets, and action plan and its respective targets; integrating policies, programmes, and sectoral plans relevant to the conservation, sustainable use, and sharing of biodiversity benefits; promoting the engagement of indigenous, traditional peoples and communities, and family farmers in the implementation of national biodiversity targets; identify and operationalize the means of financing for the implementation of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan; and disseminate information on biodiversity and the actions taken by the country under the Convention on Biological Diversity.
