Decree No. 28.811 creating the State Committee for Preventing and Combating Forest Fires (CEPCiF).

This Decree establishes the State Committee for Preventing and Combating Forest Fires (CEPCiF) with the aim of preventing, monitoring and combating the occurrence of forest fires in the State of Rondônia. It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of CEPCIF, entitled to: I - identify areas with the highest incidence of forest fires and unauthorized burn-offs; II - define an annual operations plan for preventing and combating forest fires; III - advise on the drafting of legislation governing the use of fire in controlled and authorized burn-offs; IV - support SEDAM's environmental education sector with producers and rural communities regarding the risk of forest fires and dissemination of integrated fire management; V - structure and set up strategic centres and brigades to deal with emergencies in the fight against large-scale forest fires; VI - support actions of municipal committees to prevent and combat forest fires, etc.
