This Decree establishes the State Policy for the Protection of the Rights of Traditional Peoples and Communities of African and Afro-Brazilian Origin. The Policy aims to promote racial equality and guaranteeing the integrity, respect and permanence of the values of Afro-Brazilian religions and the ways of life, uses, customs, traditions and cultural manifestations of traditional communities of African origin, as well as guaranteeing the protection, respect and dignity of traditional peoples and communities of African and Afro-Brazilian origin within the scope of State public bodies and policies. in particular, the State Policy aims to guarantee: I - dignified and adequate service to traditional peoples and communities of African and Afro-Brazilian origin; II - promotion of respect for the specificities, civilizing, identity and cultural values as well to cosmogony of religions of African and Afro-Brazilian origin by the State's public agents; III - protection of sacred places and the material and immaterial heritage of people of African origin.
