Decree No. 65.244 approving the management plan for the Environmental Protection Area (APA-Cantareira System), as declared by Law No. 10.111.

This Decree approves the management plan for the Environmental Protection Area (APA-Cantareira System), as declared by Law No. 10.111 of 4 December 1998. The management plan APA-Sistema Cantareira meets the conservation unit objectives, as well as the guidelines and regulations specified. The objectives of the APA-Cantareira System are: I - ensure the sustainability of the water resources represented by the Juqueri, Jaguari and Atibaia sub-basins, with a special focus on the public supply of quality water provided by the Unit's reservoirs; II - make the development of municipalities and economic activities compatible with the conservation and sustainable use of the APA's natural resources; III - protect the biodiversity existing between Serra da Cantareira and Serra da Mantiqueira. The delimitation of the APA-Cantareira System zones meets technical criteria, such as relief and hydrography, integral protection conservation units, urbanized areas and the presence of historical-cultural heritage.
