Decree No. 8094 creating the State Policy to Prevent and Combat Illegal Deforestation.

This Law creates the State Policy to Prevent and Combat Illegal Deforestation. The State Policy aims to prevent and progressively control levels of illegal deforestation, with a view to eradicating it in the state of Piauí, in compliance with the following principles: I - intergenerational solidarity; II - prevention; III - socio-environmental function of the property; IV - public nature of environmental protection V - environmental responsibility; and VI - sustainable development. The State Policy in particular aims to: implement an environmental protection policy based on a permanent structure for preventing, monitoring, planning and controlling illegal deforestation; incorporate technological and geospatial intelligence solutions into the state monitoring and control structure; ensure effective strategic oversight, carrying out inter-institutional cooperation operations based on intelligence systems; develop integrated operational action protocols; formulate, implement and improve norms and economic instruments that help reduce deforestation, etc.
