Decree No. 9.763 regulating Law No. 11.771 of 17 September 2008 on the National Tourism Policy, with a view to developing, ordering and promoting tourism related to the World Cultural and Natural Heritage of Brazil.

This Decree regulates the provisions of art. 5th of Law No. 11.771 of 17 September 2008 providing for the National Tourism Policy, with a view to developing, ordering and promoting tourism related to the World Cultural and Natural Heritage of Brazil. The objectives of World Heritage tourism management are: support the preservation and promotion of World Heritage Sites; provide society access to World Heritage Sites; value and promote tourism, in a sustainable way, in World Heritage Sites, and improve their tourism management; disseminate the exceptional universal values of World Heritage Sites through sustainable tourism management; stimulate the development and implementation of tourist products and services associated with World Heritage Sites, in a sustainable manner, with a view to increasing the experience of tourists and visitors; stimulate the integration of the private sector as a complementary financing agent for infrastructure and services necessary for tourism development related to World Heritage Sites; promote the competitiveness of the tourism sector by expanding and improving the supply of tourist products and services associated with World Heritage Sites, as world-class heritage destinations; guarantee an agenda of convergence between culture, environment, urban development and tourism, in order to achieve the objectives of sustainable development; and value the knowledge of traditional peoples and communities and local populations.
