Law No. 10.479 providing for breeding, management, trade and transport of native stingless bees (Melipona) within the State of Rio Grande do Norte.

This Law provides for breeding, management, trade and transport of native stingless bees (Melipona) within the State of Rio Grande do Norte. This Law establishes the requirements to provide the certification of quality and guaranteed origin to products derived from the stingless bee, according to regulations. Management, multiplication of colonies, acquisition, custody, trade, capture and use of tangible and intangible products obtained with the meliponary are permitted, as per regulation. Marketing of honey, pollen, propolis and compounds from stingless bee breeders is authorized, according to regulations. Colony transportation, or part of it, is authorized within the limits of the Potiguar Territory, by means of the Animal Transit Guide (GTA), issued by the Institute of Agricultural and Livestock Protection and Inspection of Rio Grande do Norte (IDIARN).
