Abstract
This Law establishes procedures, prohibitions, implementing rules and precautionary measures to comply with when using fire in agricultural, pastoral and forestry practices. The Law prohibits the use of fire: in forests and other forms of vegetation; for pure and simple burning, understood as burning that cannot be carbonized; in a safety strip for electricity transmission and distribution lines and telecommunications stations, prepared firebreak lands, kept clean and uncultivated, etc. As of 9 July 2003, the use of fire is prohibited, even in the form of controlled fire, for the burning of vegetation or burning of any kind. Subject to authorization the use of controlled fires in agricultural, pastoral or forestry practices is permitted. Such authorization will be issued by the State Secretariat for the Environment, as an organ of the National Environmental System (SISNAMA).
