Law No. 11.362 creating the State Policy for Agroecology and Organic Production within the State of Rio Grande do Norte (PEAPO).

This Law creates the State Policy for Agroecology and Organic Production within the State of Rio Grande do Norte (PEAPO), as a way of strengthening food sovereign production, in quantity, quality and diversity and other socio-biodiversity products. In addition, the policy aims at conserving cultural and natural heritage, boosting local food networks solidarity economy, build fair social relations between men and women and between generations and recognize ethnic diversity, contributing to the construction of a sustainable, egalitarian and democratic society. PEAPO will be implemented in cooperation with other entities of the federation and civil society organizations, aiming to integrate, articulate and adapt policies, programmes and actions that induce agroecology and organic production, considering Federal Decree No. 7.794 of 20 August 2012, on the National Policy for Agroecology and Organic Production.
