This Law establishes the State Policy on Indigenous School Education in the State of Pará, creates the State Indigenous School Education Subsystem (SSEI) and the State Council for Indigenous School Education (CEEEI), providing a comprehensive legal framework for the organization and governance of Indigenous education. Its principal objective is to guarantee Indigenous peoples' right to a differentiated, intercultural, bilingual or multilingual education that respects their identities, languages, cultures, traditions, territories, and forms of knowledge. The Law aims to strengthen Indigenous autonomy, preserve historical memory and cultural heritage, promote educational equity, and ensure that Indigenous communities participate directly in educational decision-making processes. To achieve these objectives, the Law establishes specific mechanisms for the provision, administration, and financing of Indigenous education, including the creation of Indigenous schools, culturally appropriate curricula and teaching materials, teacher training programmes, and special rules governing Indigenous education personnel. It promotes community participation in school management, consultation with Indigenous peoples on matters affecting their education, and the integration of traditional knowledge with scientific and technical learning. The Law also supports environmental and territorial protection, sustainability, food security, vocational education, inclusive education, and the professional development of Indigenous teachers, while ensuring that educational services are adapted to the social, cultural, linguistic, and territorial realities of each Indigenous community.
