Abstract
This Law creates the State Secretariat for Fisheries and Aquaculture (SEPA) with the aim of fostering sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, promoting the planning, regulation, encouragement, monitoring and inspection of their activities, comprising the entire process of exploration and exploitation of these resources, including the operations of capture, cultivation, conservation, processing, transport, storage and trade of the products arising from them, etc. In addition, it amends name and purpose of the State Secretariat for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (SAGRIMA), whose purpose is to formulate, implement, coordinate, monitor, supervise, evaluate and control public policies, programmes, projects and actions aimed at the growth of agricultural production, stimulating agribusiness, agriculture, plant and forest exploitation, supply, storage, association and cooperative, animal and plant protection and inspection, research, use of renewable natural resources and the marketing and distribution of food.
