Abstract
This Law establishes the guidelines for the State Policy for Comprehensive Attention to Women's Health in Maranhão, to be implemented by the State Public Power in cooperation with the Union, municipalities, civil society and private institutions. The Policy aims to resolve problems related to women's health, strengthening women's capacity to identify their health demands, recognize and claim their rights and promote self-care. The Policy guidelines consist of services from the Public Health System of the State of Maranhão, namely for comprehensive women's health care. These services to create public policies are aimed at: I - ensuring comprehensive health care in preventive and curative actions especially related to: a) management, childbirth and post-partum; b) gynecology; c) oncology; d) family planning; e) psychosomatic illnesses and mental disorders related to women’s health; f) sexual and reproductive health, with training of women about their rights in this field; g) comprehensive assistance to climacteric women, guaranteeing psychosocial support and access to hormonal and non-hormonal therapy, etc.
