Law No. 12.037 establishing the State Policy to encourage the production and consumption of Babassu and its derivatives.

This Law establishes the State Policy to encourage the production and consumption of Babassu and its derivatives. The Law considers Babassu derivatives: almonds, flour, oil or bark and industrialized products that contain flour or oil in their composition. To implement this policy, the State is responsible for: I - identifying and delimiting areas suitable for the extraction and production of Babassu; II - guarantee the quality of Babassu and its derivatives; III - boost the commercialization and consumption of Babassu and its derivatives; IV - encourage research and development projects in the areas of Babassu extraction, production, processing and industrialization; V - promote the sustainable development of the Babassu production chain, with an emphasis on respecting environmental standards, promoting economic balance and income distribution; VI - register and inspect agricultural and agro-industrial production units; VII - promote the professional qualification of all workers involved in Babassu extraction; VIII - encourage the offer of credit lines to finance extractive production and for the development of agroindustry for processing and processing Babassu; IX - promote the formation of local and regional productive arrangements, through partnerships with associations, cooperatives, unions, government bodies, credit institutions, teaching and research institutions, among others.
