Law No. 12.117 establishes the State Bioinputs Programme, and the Strategic Council of the State Bioinputs Programme.

This Law establishes the State Bioinputs Programme with the aim of expanding and strengthening the adoption of practices aimed at improving the agricultural sector by expanding the production, development and use of bioinputs and sustainable production systems. Its objectives are to: expand, strengthen and promote the use of bioinputs, processes and technologies in sustainable production systems; foster research, development and innovation related to the use of bioinputs, processes and technologies in the development of sustainable production systems; stimulate the training of human resources; stimulate the creation of a favourable environment for the expansion of development; develop effective communication tools that contribute to education, the dissemination of knowledge and technologies and the strengthening of a culture of sustainability in society; promote production practices based on the use of biodiversity in production systems; encourage practices and technologies for the treatment of solid waste to generate appropriate production of bio-inputs; promoting campaigns to encourage the use of bio-inputs, etc.
