Abstract
The State Policy for the Promotion, Protection and Support of Breastfeeding aims to achieve the following: I - ensure the right of the mother and child to breastfeeding in accordance with the standards established by the health authorities; II - promote society's awareness of the relevance of breastfeeding; III - encourage the implementation of measures that facilitate breastfeeding in work, leisure and transport environments, public and private, hospital, educational and prison units, among others; IV - encourage the donation of breast milk and the expansion of the network of human milk banks; V - encourage studies, research and events on breastfeeding; VI - establish the basis for adopting healthy eating habits. The State Policy for the Promotion, Protection and Support of Breastfeeding will encourage the participation of different sectors and institutions in the development of activities that allow the achievement of its objectives. The right of nursing mothers and infants to breastfeed in public and private places open to the public or for collective use is guaranteed.
