Abstract
This Law establishes the Programme of Productive Home Gardens for Rural Women in the State of Rio Grande do Norte, with the primary objective of promoting the economic autonomy and social inclusion of rural women through sustainable agricultural production. The programme supports the establishment and expansion of productive home gardens, encourages collective organisation among women producers, and facilitates access to public policies, equipment, agricultural inputs and technologies needed for food production. In particular, it seeks to improve livelihoods by strengthening women's capacity to generate income while fostering sustainable and resilient rural development. The law also aims to enhance food and nutritional security, promote the production of healthy food based on agroecological principles, and encourage the use of social technologies for water access and management. Beneficiaries include family farmers, agrarian reform settlers, extractivists, artisanal fishers, aquaculture producers, indigenous women, quilombola communities and other traditional groups. In addition, the programme seeks to strengthen cooperative and associative forms of work, support the diversification of agricultural and non-agricultural activities, and raise awareness of sustainable natural resource management through educational and community-oriented initiatives.
