Law No. 14.522 establishing the Code of Good Practice for the Responsible Use of Beaches along the Paraíba Coast; environmental protection and accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities; and ensuring universal access to coastal areas.

This Law establishes the State Code of Good Practices for the Responsible Use of the Beaches of the Paraíba Coast. The law aims to regulate conduct in coastal areas, promote environmental protection, ensure sustainable use of beaches, and foster harmonious coexistence among users. Its objectives include preventing environmental degradation, protecting coastal and marine ecosystems, encouraging sustainable practices by visitors and service providers, promoting environmental education, and balancing tourism, economic activities, recreation, culture, and environmental conservation. The law also seeks to strengthen accessibility, social inclusion, and universal access to beaches. It guarantees that persons with disabilities and persons with reduced mobility have the right to full, safe, and autonomous access to coastal spaces and requires compliance with accessibility standards. In addition, the law reinforces the public character of beaches, prohibits undue restrictions on free access, encourages cooperation between public and private actors, supports environmental awareness initiatives, and provides for administrative sanctions in cases of non-compliance. Certain provisions concerning infrastructure and inspection responsibilities were vetoed on constitutional grounds, but the general framework promoting environmental stewardship, accessibility, and sustainable coastal management was maintained.
