Abstract
This Law creates the State Code for Animal Protection within the State of Pernambuco, establishing standards for the protection of animals, and aiming to make socioeconomic development compatible with environmental preservation, in accordance with the provisions of Law 9.605 of 12 February 1998. The State protection of animals will observe the following principles: principle of animal dignity; principle of universality of protection; principle of community participation; principle of animal citizenship; principle of alternative; principle of prevention; precautionary principle; principle of sealing backflow. In addition, it establishes the protection of wild animals of any species, including fish, at any stage of their development, as well as their nests, eggs and shelters, are considered assets of common interest of the State of Pernambuco. The use of animals for developing experimentation and testing of cosmetics, perfumes, personal hygiene and cleaning products or their components is prohibited.
