Law No. 15.322 establishing the Golden July (Julho Dourado) campaign, aimed at promoting the health of domestic and stray animals and preventing zoonoses.

This Law establishes, nationwide, the Golden July (Julho Dourado) campaign, to be held annually during the month of July, with a view to promoting the health of domestic and stray animals and preventing zoonoses. The objectives of the campaign include, among others: promoting actions to provide quality of life for domestic and stray animals; promoting lectures, seminars, mobilizations and other activities to raise public awareness about the importance of preventive measures against zoonoses and educating the public on the care of domestic and stray animals; promoting the adoption of abandoned animals; contributing to the improvement of indicators related to the health of domestic and stray animals; increasing the effectiveness of actions directed at the health of domestic and stray animals through integration between the population, public and private bodies and non-governmental organizations that work in the area of animal welfare; and disseminating the principles contained in the Universal Declaration of Animal Rights of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
