Abstract
This Law establishes the State Policy for the Promotion of Family Farming in Pernambuco, with the primary objective of encouraging, organizing, and strengthening productive units and enterprises linked to family farming, whether individual or collective. It seeks to enhance the role of family farmers in the economy by supporting production, commercialization, and value addition, while promoting sustainable agricultural practices, including agroecological and organic systems. The policy also aims to improve rural livelihoods by fostering income generation, increasing competitiveness, and strengthening local food systems, thereby contributing to broader economic and social development in rural, urban, and peri-urban areas. In addition, the law aims to operationalize this policy through targeted support measures, including technical assistance, access to credit, infrastructure development, and training for farmers in production management and market access. It emphasizes the promotion of innovation, agroindustrialization, and sustainable use of natural resources, as well as the empowerment of women, youth, and traditional communities within family farming.
