Law No. 22.384 establishing the State Rural Sanitation Programme, the guidelines and conditions for the provision of public sanitation services basic sanitation of water supply and sewage in communities settled in rural zones and areas in the State of Goiás.

This Law establishes the State Rural Sanitation Programme, including guidelines and conditions for the provision of public basic sanitation services of water supply and sewage in communities settled in rural zones and State areas, in accordance with Federal Law No. 11.445 of 5 January 2007, State Law No. 14.939 of 15 September 2004, and State Complementary Law No. 182 of 22 May 2023. Communities settled in rural zones and areas do not fall within the scope of dwellings, constructions and isolated buildings, as they do not present a collective risk to health or contamination of water sources, and may be in public or private areas, or under litigation that questions property ownership. The objectives of the Programme are: contribute to the State development to reduce regional inequalities and to promote health and social inclusion; prioritize plans, programmes and projects aimed at implementing basic sanitation services and actions in rural areas where vulnerable populations are; minimize environmental impacts related to the implementation and development of basic sanitation actions, works and services and ensure that they are carried out in accordance with standards for protecting the environment, land use and health; encourage the adoption of sanitary equipment that contributes to reducing water consumption; and promote environmental education to save water by users.
