Abstract
This Law establishes the Animal Blood Donation Campaign in the State of Paraná, with the primary objective of encouraging blood donation by domestic animals, particularly dogs and cats, to support the treatment of other animals requiring blood transfusions. The campaign seeks to raise public awareness of the importance of animal blood donation, promote the creation and maintenance of animal blood banks, facilitate access to information on donation requirements and locations, and ensure the safety and welfare of both donor and recipient animals throughout the donation process. The Law further provides for the implementation of the campaign through partnerships between public authorities, veterinary clinics and hospitals, universities with veterinary medicine programmes, animal protection organisations, and research institutions involved in animal health. It authorises the establishment of cooperation agreements and incentives to increase public participation and requires that all activities related to the collection, storage, transport, and transfusion of animal blood comply with the standards issued by the Federal Council of Veterinary Medicine (CFMV).
