Abstract
This Law establishes the State policy of care for pregnant and postpartum women in situations of vulnerability and social and personal risk, as well as their children, with the aim of guaranteeing these people comprehensive, shared and intersectoral care in health care networks and social assistance services. The objectives of this policy are: implement protocols to identify the vulnerability and social and personal risks of pregnant and postpartum women, as well as their children, considering the right to family and community coexistence; guarantee the role of the guardianship council in the flow of care, ensuring its notification by teams from health care networks and social assistance services, whenever these teams identify situations that indicate the need for action by the body; encourage the implementation of intersectoral networks aimed at providing care to pregnant and postpartum women in situations of vulnerability and social and personal risk, as well as their children, within municipalities, comprising the services of the Health System and the Social Assistance System and for other services, programmes and projects developed in the context of other public policies; encourage the implementation of interinstitutional forums to discuss more complex cases and coordinate care services for pregnant and postpartum women, as well as their children; promote the reception and inclusion of pregnant and postpartum women, as well as their children, in the social protection network, etc.
