Abstract
This Law establishes the State Policy to Promote the Green Classroom (Projeto Sala Verde) in the State of Goiás, aimed at creating educational spaces dedicated to environmental education and citizenship-building. The law promotes the development of non-formal environmental education centers functioning as local or regional hubs for information dissemination and capacity building. Its objectives include fostering sustainable practices, supporting the visibility and dissemination of environmental initiatives, and recognizing participating institutions through annual monitoring and reporting requirements. The policy is guided by directives that emphasize partnerships between public authorities, civil society organizations, and private actors to support the establishment and operation of “Sala Verde” spaces. It promotes environmental education activities, including courses (both in-person and distance learning), practical initiatives related to environmental conservation, and the dissemination of educational materials. The law also encourages inclusive participation across different societal groups—such as students, educators, communities, and businesses—and integrates the program with broader environmental policies of the State, with provisions for future regulation, monitoring, and evaluation.
