Law No. 24.189 establishing the State Policy for Cooperatives aimed at Family Farming and Agroindustry (Pecooperaf), amending Law No. 15.075 of 5 April 2004, providing for the State policy to support cooperatives.

This Law establishes the State Policy for Cooperatives aimed at Family Farming and Agroindustry (Pecooperaf) and amends Law No. 15.075 of 5 April 2004, providing for the State policy to support cooperatives. Pecooperaf will have the following objectives: support the economic organization of rural workers under a family economy regime; support, encourage and strengthen family farming cooperatives and their members, agro-industries and family agro-industries cooperatives, through staff training and qualification actions, promotion, credit, technical assistance and rural extension; encourage the creation of credit lines for the implementation, expansion, adaptation, restructuring and funding of these cooperatives; support the development of technologies and equipment necessary for the above mentioned sector; promote the appreciation of collective work; encourage agroecological production practices; encourage the addition of value to rural production and the generation of work and income; promote food and nutritional security for the population; support, facilitate, encourage and strengthen supply initiatives capable of promoting greater participation of family farming and agro-industries cooperatives in the markets and the population's access to healthy food.
