Abstract
This Law establishes the State Policy to Promote the Development of Sustainable Technologies in Mining within the State of Goiás. Its primary objective is to promote research, innovation, and the adoption of sustainable technologies within the mining sector in order to improve the efficient use of natural resources, reduce waste generation, and support the environmental recovery of degraded areas. The law also seeks to advance responsible mining practices by encouraging the integration of environmental, social, and economic sustainability principles into mining activities. To achieve these objectives, the law promotes measures aimed at reducing the environmental impacts of mining, restoring degraded lands, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and conserving water and energy resources. It further encourages fiscal incentives for companies investing in sustainable technologies, public-private partnerships for technological innovation, environmental certification schemes, investment funds, and educational and training programs on sustainable mining practices. The policy also supports the adoption of cleaner technologies throughout mineral extraction, processing, and transportation, while fostering the participation of local communities in projects for the rehabilitation and transformation of areas affected by mining activities.
