Law No. 24.396 providing for State biogas and biomethane policy.

This Law provides for state biogas and biomethane policy. The objectives of the policy are: I – increase, on economic, social and environmental bases, the participation of biogas and biomethane in the State energy matrix; II – promote synergy between the efficient management of solid waste and the generation of renewable energy; III – promote the fight against climate change; IV – promote technological development aimed at the production of biogas and biomethane, oriented towards the rational use and protection of environmental resources; V – establish organizational rules and instruments to assist the biogas and biomethane production chain; VI – promote incentives, supervision and support for the biogas and biomethane production chain. VII – support and promote the biogas and biomethane production chain in the State; VIII – attract investments in infrastructure for the production, distribution and commercialization of biogas and biomethane.
