This Law provides for measures to prevent the introduction of highly pathogenic avian diseases into the State, as well as their control. The State Agriculture and Livestock Institution (IMA) -Instituto Mineiro de Agropecu ria IMA- is responsible for monitoring and implementing the below mentioned measures, in accordance with the powers provided for in Law No. 10.594 of 7 January 1992. The measures for the prevention and control of avian diseases highly pathogenic in the State must comply with: I requirement for registration with IMA of breeding farms, hatcheries, commercial poultry farms and their respective production centres, subsistence farms and establishments that sell fertile eggs, live birds and autonomous poultry farming waste composting establishments; II housing birds or fertile eggs only in registered hatcheries, commercial or breeding farms with prior authorization from IMA; III transit of birds accompanied by GTA compatible with the loading and within the validity period; IV transit of poultry farming waste only in the manner determined by regulation established by IMA; V - partial or total ban on farms and autonomous composting establishments that do not meet the minimum biosecurity requirements; VI carry out campaigns for the population awareness.
