Abstract
This Law establishes the Centre for the Promotion of Wine Production (Polo de Incentivo à Vitivinicultura) in the southern region of Minas Gerais, with the primary objective of promoting the development of the viticulture and wine sector throughout the State. The law seeks to encourage wine production, processing, marketing, and consumption, while fostering technological innovation across all stages of the wine value chain. It also aims to improve the quality and competitiveness of viticulture products, strengthen integration between rural producers, agro-industries, commerce, and service sectors, and stimulate sustainable economic development in rural areas. Special emphasis is placed on generating employment and income, particularly through support for family farming and sustainable agricultural practices. To achieve these objectives, the law provides for a range of public actions, including agroclimatic zoning to identify suitable grape-growing areas, market information systems, a special identification label for producers, phytosanitary controls, research and statistical studies, technical assistance and rural extension services, and professional training programmes for producers and workers in the sector. The legislation also promotes investment in wine-related agro-industries, logistics infrastructure, and tourism initiatives, including wine routes, gastronomic activities, and events linked to the viticulture value chain.
