Abstract
This Law establishes the State Policy on Animal Health Protection in the State of Amapá, with the primary objective of ensuring the sanitary integrity of animals, as well as the quality and safety of animal-related inputs, products, and services. It seeks to protect livestock production, public health, the environment, and the state economy by preventing, controlling, and eradicating animal diseases, including those that may be transmitted to humans. The law assigns to the competent authority (DIAGRO) the responsibility to regulate, supervise, and enforce sanitary standards across the entire livestock production chain, while ensuring that all actors comply with established rules and procedures. The law also aims to implement an integrated system of epidemiological surveillance, biosecurity, and risk management, including the control of animal movement, compulsory vaccination, disease notification, and emergency response measures. The law also promotes animal welfare, sanitary education, and institutional coordination, while establishing mechanisms for inspection, certification, and enforcement, including penalties and precautionary measures. Through these provisions, it aims to strengthen food safety, ensure the quality of products of animal origin, and enhance the sustainability and resilience of the livestock sector in alignment with environmental and public health protections.
