Law No. 4.126 providing for the State policy for the protection, conservation and improvement of the environment.

This Law provides for the State policy for the protection, conservation and improvement of the environment. The objectives of the State Environmental System are: promote the preservation, improvement and recovery of environmental quality; coordinate and integrate activities linked to the defense of the Environment; promote the development and improvement of environmental protection standards; encourage the development of research and technological processes aimed at reducing the degradation of environmental quality; encourage the carrying out of educational activities and community participation in the process of preserving the environment; promote the conservation of the State’s environmental and landscape heritage.
