Law No. 56.325 providing for complementary rules to the Environmental Regularization Programme (PRA) in the state of Rondônia.

This Law establishes complementary rules to the Environmental Regularization Programme (PRA) in the State of Rondônia, with the primary objective of facilitating the environmental regularization of rural properties while enabling greater flexibility in the management of legal forest reserves, in accordance with article 12 (paras 45 and 55) of Federal Law No. 12.651 of 25 May 2012. It provides legal provisions allowing for the reduction of the Legal Reserve requirement in rural properties within the Amazon Legal area, from 80% to up to 50%, under specific conditions. These include compliance with the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR), commitments to restoration or compensation of degraded areas, and alignment with broader territorial conservation criteria, such as the presence of protected areas and Indigenous lands. In addition, the law aims to balance environmental conservation with sustainable rural development and land-use planning, by linking reserve reductions to socio-environmental zoning and ecological criteria. It introduces safeguards to prevent new deforestation, requires monitoring and formal registration of reductions, and restricts their application in priority conservation areas unless technically justified.
