Abstract
This Law establishes measures for the promotion of healthy eating in schools in the State of Rondônia, with the primary objective of improving the nutritional quality of school food and protecting student health by banning ultraprocessed and sugary foods in both public and private educational institutions, in accordance with Law No. 11.947. It aligns with national school feeding policies and defines healthy food standards, emphasizing the consumption of natural and minimally processed foods, as well as the integration of food and nutrition education into school curricula. The law also encourages complementary actions such as the creation of school gardens and the adoption of safe food handling practices to foster healthier school environments. In addition, the law aims to reduce the consumption of unhealthy foods and promote long‑term behavioral change among students by prohibiting the sale, supply, and advertising of ultraprocessed and sugary products within school premises and surrounding areas. It establishes transitional measures for implementation, including deadlines for public and private institutions to adapt and requirements for educational campaigns to raise awareness about healthy eating.
