Abstract
This Law establishes the State Policy for Combating Obesity and Overweight “Vida Saudável” in the State of Rondônia, with the primary objective of preventing, controlling, and reducing overweight and obesity across all age groups. It seeks to promote the right to adequate food and nutrition through integrated public policies that combine health, education, and social interventions. The policy emphasizes preventive and educational actions, including the promotion of healthy eating habits, regular physical activity, and targeted measures to address childhood obesity, while encouraging the use of public spaces such as schools and health units for implementing these initiatives. In addition, the law aims to strengthen public health capacity and foster behavioral change toward healthier lifestyles by promoting awareness campaigns, professional training, and the creation of reference centers for diagnosis and monitoring of obesity. It also encourages interinstitutional cooperation and alignment with national food and nutrition security strategies, prioritizing vulnerable populations and supporting measures such as breastfeeding promotion and regulation of unhealthy food advertising directed at children. Through these objectives, the policy contributes to improving population health, reducing non‑communicable diseases, and reinforcing sustainable public health systems in Rondônia.
