Abstract
This Law establishes the State Policy on Urban Tree Planting in Rondônia, with the primary objective of promoting planned, integrated, and sustainable urban tree planting to improve the population’s quality of life, preserve the environment, and support sustainable development. It seeks to guide urban arborization through principles such as the use of native and climate‑adapted species, the integration of green infrastructure into urban planning, and the assurance of accessibility and safety for pedestrians and vehicles. The policy also emphasizes public participation, environmental education, and alignment with other public policies, including sanitation, mobility, and waste management. In addition, the law aims to strengthen governance, capacity, and effectiveness of urban arborization initiatives by encouraging the development of municipal arborization plans, the use of monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, and the establishment of indicators and targets. It promotes professional training, research, and the development of sustainable technologies and practices, while allowing the executive branch to adopt complementary measures and institutional arrangements to ensure implementation.
