Abstract
This Law regulates the Water Resources Management Policy of the State of Amapá, in line with the Federal Constitution and applicable federal legislation. The objectives of the State Policy are to: ensure necessary availability of water at standards of quality and quantity appropriate to their respective uses; rational and integrated use of water resources, including waterway transport, with a view to sustainable development; prevention and defense of critical hydrological events of natural origin; combating and preventing the causes and adverse effects of pollution, floods, droughts, soil erosion and the silting up of water bodies and other risks that may cause damage to the well-being of society and the environment; making water resource management compatible with regional development and environmental protection, promoting the harmonization between the multiple uses of water resources; promoting programmes aimed at professional training and research, at all levels, in related sectors.
