Law No. 7.289 establishing principles, guidelines and objectives for the State Policy on Women.

This Law provides for principles, guidelines and objectives for the formulation and implementation of the State Policy on Women, with the purpose of assuming responsibility for implementing public policies that focus on women, the consolidation of citizenship and equality of gender, with a view to breaking with discriminating and unfair logic. The objectives of the policy are: autonomy, equality in the world of work and citizenship [such as: a) promote women’s economic and financial autonomy; b) promote gender, racial and ethnic equality in work relationships; c) promote affirmative action policies that reaffirm the status of women as social and political subjects; d) inclusion of women in agrarian reform and family farming; e) promote the right to quality life, access to public goods and services]; women's health; combating violence against women; participation of women in spaces of power and decision-making.
