Law No. 8.055 establishing guidelines for the state policy to promote the use of recycled materials in public works.

This Law establishes guidelines within the State of Amazonas for the implementation of the State Policy for the Promotion of the Use of Recycled Materials in Public Works. This policy aims at encouraging sustainability, reducing solid waste and promoting the use of recycled materials, whenever technically feasible, in state public works. It specifies that public works must observe the following guidelines: priority of the use of recycled materials whenever technically possible (concrete, plastics, glass and reused metals); encouragement of the use of construction waste, such as rubble and wood; establish technical criteria for the selection and feasibility of using recycled materials, in accordance with safety and quality standards; promote the training of professionals, ensuring the proper use of these materials; require plans for the use of recycled materials in bidding processes, ensuring transparency.
