Law No. 8.084 establishing guidelines for Sustainable Social Housing (HISS) within the State of Amazonas.

This Law establishes guidelines for Sustainable Social Housing (HISS) within the State of Amazonas, which is designed, built, and managed with the aim of meeting the housing needs of socially vulnerable populations, while respecting principles of environmental, social, and economic sustainability. The objectives of this Law are: provide decent housing that contributes to improving the quality of life of residents and the surrounding environment; integrate, coordinate and mobilise the different levels of government and sources of public and private funding, in order to boost investment capacity and enable resources for the sustainability of HISS; universalise access to decent housing, taking into account the availability of resources in the financial system, the operational capacity of the productive and construction sectors, and the agents involved in the implementation of HISS; strengthen the role of the State in policy management and the regulation of private agents; promote the urbanisation, regularisation, and integration of precarious settlements in the city; increase productivity and improve the quality of housing production; and stimulate job and income generation.
