Law No. 8.228 providing for the production and marketing of artisanal dairy products produced in the State of Alagoas.

This Law provides for the production and commercialization of artisanal cheese, butter and others traditional and innovative dairy products produced in the State of Alagoas. Artisanal cheese is considered to be made with milk, whether fresh, raw or with simple heat treatment, made using traditional methods, with cultural, regional or territorial characteristics, according to the specific elaboration protocol established for each type and variety, using good agricultural and manufacturing practices. The Law also establishes the classification for artisanal cheeses and other artisanal dairy products, as well as conditions for the recognition of rural milk-producing establishments intended for the production of dairy products, such as artisanal cheeses and butter, in order to ensure the quality and safety of the products.
