Law No. 828 creating the Programme for Integrated Management of Hydrographic Micro-Basins within the Federal District.

This Law creates the Programme for Integrated Management of Hydrographic Micro-Basins within the Federal District. This Programme aims to preserve soil, fauna, flora, the "Cerrado", and to guarantee irrigated agriculture and the subsistence of groundwater use. The Programme shall be in accordance with federal legislation and shall comply with the safety standards established by the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT). The Executive Power of the Federal District may sign agreements with neighbouring states to expand this Programme to the Municipalities of the Surrounding Region. The Government will encourage the integrated management of hydrographic basins in the rural area, through financing incentives or allowing tax reduction. The incentives do not apply to works destined to the retention of industrial or residential waste. The integrated management of watersheds shall comply with the PDOT Territorial Planning Master Plan of the Federal District.
