Law No. 8.316 creating the Legal Fisheries Programme (Programa Pescador Legal).

This Law creates the Legal Fisheries Programme (Programa Pescador Legal) within the State of Alagoas. The purpose of the Programme is to adopt measures to combat the effects resulting from adverse conditions for artisanal and subsistence fisheries during the winter period, which result in income generation, training and improvement in the quality of life of the affected population, namely in the areas of education, health, citizenship and infrastructure and environment. This Programme will target the families of fisherwomen and artisanal and subsistence fishermen, including shellfish harvesters, residing in the municipalities listed in the Annex to this Law, who are in a situation of poverty, as defined in the Bolsa Família Programme, created by Federal Law No. 10.836 of 9 January 2004.
