Law No. 8.878 creating the State Health Policy for native peoples and communities in the State of Alagoas.

This Law creates the State Health Policy for native peoples and communities in the State of Alagoas. The general objective of the policy is to promote actions and initiatives that recognize the specificities of gender, generation, race/color, ethnicity and sexual orientation, with a view to accessing health services, reducing risks and health problems arising from work processes and improving health indicators and the quality of life of native peoples in the State of Alagoas.
The specific objectives of the State Policy are: training and continuing education processes of health workers on racism, gender and social control in health; encourage the production of scientific and technological knowledge on the health of traditional peoples; promote the recognition of popular health knowledge and practices, including those preserved by religions; guarantee and expand access to health actions and services for the black population of the countryside and forest, in particular quilombola populations; include the theme of Combating Gender and Sexual Orientation Discrimination; improve the quality of the information systems on collection, processing and analysis of data disaggregated by sex and ethnicity; contribute to improving the quality of life of traditional populations, to improve sanitation and environmental actions to reduce risks to human health; include the demands of traditional populations in the health system.
