Law No. 8.886 establishing the Food Bank Programme within the State of Alagoas.

This Law establishes the Food Bank Programme within the State of Alagoas, aimed at strengthening and integrating public and private food banks, with a view to contributing to reducing food waste in the State and guaranteeing the human right to adequate food. The Food Bank programme, guided by the principles of cooperation, communicability, transparency and ethical conduct, has the following objectives: collect food donations and promote their distribution, directly or through previously registered organisations, to people and/or families in a state of vulnerability; promote the exchange of experiences, the strengthening and qualification of food banks; foster educational actions aimed at food and nutritional security and the institutional strengthening of the food bank; stimulate actions to reduce food losses and waste in the State; promote research related to food banks; encourage public policies and actions on food and nutritional security that strengthen food banks; articulate actions aimed at sustainable policies on food and nutritional security; and facilitate strategic negotiations to advertise and establish partnerships with other food banks.
