Law No. 9.140 creating the Programme for Young Rural Entrepreneur within the State of Alagoas.

This Law creates the Young Rural Entrepreneur Programme of Alagoas (PJER/AL), with the aim of guiding, integrating and articulating policies, actions and programmes aimed at guaranteeing the rights of rural young people. Young entrepreneurs between the ages of 15 and 29 who work in family farming and have a low gross family income can take part in the PJER/AL programme. The PJER/AL aims to prepare young rural entrepreneurs to play a strategic role as agents for the development of family farming and its objectives are: encourage the transformation of young people into entrepreneurial leaders; boost the productive action of young children of family farmers, combining training, technical assistance and access to credit; encourage the development of productive projects, to be developed by young farmers; expand skills and practices that enable efficient management of agricultural businesses, promoting entrepreneurship, leadership, rural businesses, governance, etc.; encourage the development of skills related to non-agricultural activities with potential for expansion in rural areas; encourage young people and their families to structure governance strategies for family succession; broaden understanding of sustainable rural development, agricultural practices, regional cultures, public policies for family farming, social organization and management; encourage the use of traditional knowledge, combined with technological innovations for rural activities; awaken young people's interest in the cooperative business and highlight its benefits for the competitiveness of products, etc.
