Law No. 9.653 creating the State Policy for the Acquisition of Food of Family Farming Production (PEAAPF).

This Law creates the State Policy for the Acquisition of Food of Family Farming Production (PEAAPF). The PEAAPF will guarantee acquisition and support in the formation of stocks of agricultural, extractive and fishing products, in natura and processed, including seeds produced by family farmers, family fish farmers, artisanal fishers, agrarian reform settlers, traditional peoples and communities and the beneficiaries of agrarian reform, or their economic and social organizations, under Federal Law No. 11.326 of 24 July 2006.
The objectives of PEAAPF are: encourage the organization and modernization of production and improve the flow of family production products; promote access to food in the necessary quantity, quality and regularity for people in situations of food and nutritional insecurity, from the perspective of the human right to adequate and healthy food; encourage family production, promoting its socio-economic inclusion and sustainable production, food processing (also industrial) and income generation; support the formation of stocks by cooperatives and other formal family production organizations; strengthen local and regional circuits and marketing networks; stimulate family food production by contributing to the practice of adequate prices and expansion of the consumer market for their products; favor the acquisition of products from family farming in purchases made by public bodies; encourage the agroecological and organic transition of family and peasant farming, aiming to ensure the promotion of food and nutritional security and the preservation of the environment and water resources, etc.
