Law No. 9.895 crating the State Policy for the Promotion of the Marine Economy within the State of Alagoas.

This Law creates the State Policy for the Promotion of the Marine Economy in the State of Alagoas, with the primary objective of providing strategic guidelines for the sustainable development of economic activities linked to marine, coastal and inland water resources. The law seeks to consolidate the blue economy as a driver of socioeconomic development, employment generation, income creation and social inclusion by encouraging the sustainable use, exploitation and management of living, mineral and energy resources from seas, oceans and inland waters. It recognizes a wide range of sectors within the blue economy, including fisheries, aquaculture, offshore oil and gas activities, maritime transport, ports, marine biotechnology, renewable marine energy, tourism, scientific research and maritime services. The law also aims to strengthen innovation, research, professional training and investment in sectors related to the blue economy. It promotes the development of skilled human resources, support for scientific research and technological innovation, access to financing, and cooperation among government institutions, universities, research centers and private enterprises. In addition, the policy is to be implemented in harmony with national policies on marine resources and coastal management, while encouraging sustainable tourism, environmental stewardship and the conservation of marine and inland water ecosystems.
