Abstract
This Norm prohibits the import, production, commercialization and use of natural or artificial substances with hormonal anabolic activity, for the purpose of growth and weight gain in slaughter cattle. The Norm allows the importation, production, commercialization and use of hormonal anabolic steroids or similar, natural or synthetic, with estrogenic, androgenic and progestagenic activities, exclusively for therapeutic purposes, estrus synchronization, embryo transfer, genetic improvement and experimental research in veterinary medicine. The Federal Inspection Service of the Department of Inspection of Animal Origin Products of the Department of Agricultural Protection of MAPA, will carry out an examination aimed at verifying the presence of hormonal anabolic steroids implanted in cattle, during the ante-mortem inspection, and in cases of suspicion must collect urine samples and send them for analysis in official laboratories or laboratories accredited by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.
