Abstract
This Order recognizes as Brazilian threatened fauna species with extinction those included in the Official National List of Threatened Fauna Species with Extinction, according to Annex I, in compliance with Order No. 43 of 31 January 2014. This Order deals with mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and terrestrial invertebrates and indicates the degree of risk of extinction of each species. Fish and aquatic invertebrates will be the subject of a specific legislation. The species included in the List to Annex I, classified in the categories as: Extinct in the Wild (EW), Critically Endangered (CR), Endangered (EN) and Vulnerable (VU) are fully protected, including, among other measures, the prohibition of capture, transportation, storage, custody, handling, processing and commercialization. The capture, transport, storage, custody and management of related species may only be permitted for research purposes or for the conservation of the species, with authorization from the Chico Mendes Institute for the Conservation of Biodiversity. The restrictions established do not apply to species in captivity duly licensed by a competent environmental agency, in accordance with National Action Plans for the Conservation of Endangered Species (PAN).
