Order MMA No. 455 establishing the National Programme for the Rescue of Wild Fauna - Rescue+ under the Ministry of the Environment.

This Order establishes the National Programme for the Rescue of Wild Fauna (Rescue+) under the Ministry of the Environment. The Rescue Programme (Resgate+) aims to: provide the implementation of tools for rescuing, providing emergency veterinary medical care, and providing assistance to wild fauna in situation of risk and vulnerability, in the six Brazilian biomes; mitigate the loss of biodiversity resulting from the occurrence of extreme natural events or environmental accidents caused by anthropic action; and guide the proper disposal of animals treated in rescue and assistance operations. The Rescue+ Programme guidelines are: conservation of biological diversity; defense, protection and well-being of wild animals and the reintegration of their natural habitat; cooperation and engagement of the bodies that are part of the National Environmental System (SISNAMA); encourage volunteering and the participation of the private sector and society in the implementation, funding and operation of wild fauna rescue activities; and promotion of environmental education.
The strategic objectives of the Rescue+ are: coordinate and articulate the preparation and availability of operational bases, strategically located, with trained personnel and specific equipment, to carry out actions of rescuing, assistance and recovery of wild fauna in situation of risk and vulnerability; access to agreements and partnerships to carry out these activities; encourage the implementation of projects for rescuing, saving, assist and recovery of wild fauna in all Brazilian biomes; carry out training, education and environmental actions under the Resgate+ Programme; and monitor and assist in the preparation of plans for prompt response to disasters and accidents that affect wildlife.
